The Potomac Skye Terrier Club

The mission of the Potomac Skye Terrier Club (PSTC) is to preserve and promote interest in the Skye Terrier in the Middle Atlantic region of the United States. In order to fulfill this mission, the club annually holds a specialty show in conjunction with the Cherry Blossom dog show circuit. The club also sponsors handling clinics, educational seminars, meetings, and social gatherings for members.

The The Potomac Skye Terrier Club was formed in the late 1950's by a group of Skye Terrier enthusiasts in the Washington, D.C. area. The early years were not very active for this small breed club. However, in the late 1960's, there was revived interest in the club and in 1969, the club sought approval from the American Kennel Club to offer its own regional specialty show. In 1974, the club held its first specialty show in April at the Old Dominion KC show.

In 1986, the Potomac Skye Terrier Club elected to hold its specialty as an independent show during the Cherry Blossom circuit. From 1986 through 1995, the show was held at the Corner Kick, a soccer arena, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. In 1992, the club joined with the Columbia Terrier Association of Maryland. The PSTC Specialty show moved to the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland. The Potomac Skye Terrier Club is proud to have been a part of the Columbia Terrier Association's first group show in 1996. At the Columbia Terrier Association show, Skyes now have an opportunity to be appreciated by a wider audience of terrier fanciers
